Eng Shu Tan

EVP & Head of Aerospace MRO
ST Engineering

Tan Eng Shu is the Executive Vice President/Head, Aerospace MRO, for the Commercial Aerospace business area of ST Engineering, a global technology, defence and engineering group with a diverse portfolio of businesses across the aerospace, smart city, defence and public security segments. As Aerospace MRO Head, Eng Shu oversees the Group’s airframe, components and engines MRO business across its network of facilities in Asia Pacific, the U.S. and Europe.  

 

Prior to his current role, Eng Shu held other senior aerospace positions in the Group covering strategy, alliances, partnerships as well as merger and acquisition activities. He was previously the Vice President/General Manager of ST Aerospace Services Co, a subsidiary that focuses on commercial aircraft maintenance and modification for both Airbus and Boeing aircraft.  

 

Eng Shu began his career in 1985 as an engineer with the Engineering & Development Centre of Singapore Aerospace Industries (before it was renamed to ST Engineering Aerospace). He served in various capacities during his tenure such as Principal Engineer and Head of the Computational Structural Analysis Group responsible for structural analysis and research and Programme Manager managing various aircraft modification projects.  

 

From 1998 onwards, Mr Tan served as Director and Vice President at the Business Development department. He had significant involvement in the acquisition of Pacific Flight Services, as well as in the setting up of ST Engineering Aerospace’s aircraft maintenance joint venture with China Eastern Airlines – Shanghai Technologies Aerospace Company (STARCO), landing gear overhaul joint venture with Iberia Airlines – Madrid Aerospace Services and aircraft maintenance joint venture with Guangdong Airport Management Corporation – ST Aerospace (Guangzhou) Aviation Services Company. From 2004 to 2006, Mr Tan concurrently served as Director, Corporate Affairs of STARCO and was involved in starting up the company in Shanghai.  

 

Eng Shu graduated with First Class Honours in Bachelor of Science (Engineering) in Aeronautical Engineering and Master of Science (Engineering) in Structural Steel Design from Imperial College of Science & Technology (University of London).
