Michael Steen, chief executive of Atlas Air Worldwide, will join an Oct. 26 panel discussion on the global freighter market at Cargo Facts Symposium 2023.

The 29th Cargo Facts Symposium will take place Oct. 25-27 at the Omni Hotel in San Diego, where industry leaders will gather to share insights and analyses on developing market trends while providing an outlook on the air cargo industry in the Americas and around the world.

The largest operator of 747 freighters, Atlas in June ferried one of its own 767-300ERs for conversion with Boeing at the ST Engineering facility in Singapore (QPG). After the sale of Atlas to an investor group led by Apollo Global Management was completed in August 2022, the company took delivery of the last 747-8F Boeing manufactured before the planemaker permanently closed the quad-engine freighter production line.

“The outlook is still looking positive, even though we are going to have a challenging 2023,” Steen said at Cargo Facts Symposium 2022.

Steen served in leadership roles with Atlas for sixteen years before becoming CEO in June. He has more than thirty years of experience in global aviation and logistics and has held executive roles with DHL, Exel PLC and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

Steen joins the panel “The global freighter market: Where is air cargo headed in 2024 and beyond?” on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 9:10 a.m. PDT (GMT -5). The panel will provide a glimpse into trends, directions and growth potential of the freighter market worldwide.

Other speakers in the session will be Andres Bianchi, chief executive of LATAM Cargo; Fatih Cıgal, senior vice president of cargo marketing at Turkish Airlines; Richard Corrado, chief executive of ATSG; and Diogo Elias, senior vice president at Avianca Cargo.
