George was previously chief executive and founder of venture-backed expansion stage technology startup Bridj. He is a licensed pilot and served as the technology chair for Boston’s 2024 Olympic bid.
Merlin recently began integrating the certification version of its flight automation software, called Merlin Pilot, into its first Cessna 208B. The company specifically bought a 2003-vintage aircraft (208B1023) for this purpose and the aircraft will serve as the testbed for the certification effort of this STC, Merlin told Cargo Facts this month.
The company has been flying a 2005-vintage Cessna 208B (208B1106) to conduct tests on the experimental version of Merlin Pilot and was awarded a $1 million contract by the FAA to perform live flights in Alaska with Everts Air Cargo.
“Our trial in Alaska demonstrates that we’re building something that is robust, that is able to go into a wide variety of circumstances and doesn’t rely on a remote pilotage link down to the ground,” George previously told Cargo Facts.
Cargo Facts EMEA 2024 will provide attendees with an overview of the pivotal events that shaped the industry in the past year while analyzing market conditions, trends and new developments.
