Bert has over 20 years of experience in business development and sales in the air cargo and logistics industry. Before joining WFS in 2022, he has spent the last 10 years working for Liege Airport as Vice President Cargo & Logistics.

Since the start of his career Bert has been passionate and fascinated by the world of freight and logistics. After graduating as a Master in Economy and International Business he started working at BRU Airport in Cargo Handling (Sabena Cargo/Flightcare), taking up various roles before moving into road and rail logistics (H. Essers, based in Italy).

Afterwards, after travelling the world for 6 years as head of commercial and business development for CAE International Flight Academy, Bert landed at Liege Airport and stayed there for a period of 10 years.

Between 2012 and 2022 Liege Airport transformed from a promising regional cargo airport into Europe’s no. 1 Freighter Airport, largely driven by focus on Freight Forwarders, Ecommerce and Full Cargo operators.

At WFS, since 2022, Bert is heading the roll out of a strategic new business unit called EFFH (E-commerce & Freight Forwarder Handling) at each of the 35 WFS-stations in EMEA region.

Supply Chain efficiency, time gain, dedicated & state-of-the-art WMS, presence at all major airports, real-time transparency & full data-integration are just a few features of this new WFS’ solution allowing forwarders and ecommerce logistics companies to outsource the handling of their import and export flows throughout EMEA.
