Gerry Murphy serves as Director, Global Fleet, Aviation Sourcing & Technical for Amazon Air, bringing nearly 25 years of industry experience to lead its Commercial, Tech Ops, Ground Services, and Sustainability teams. Prior to his current role, Murphy was Amazon’s Director & Associate General Counsel, Worldwide Aviation & Logistics, leading the legal team responsible for its: Amazon Air cargo network, Prime Air drone delivery program, Global Logistics business, and Climate Pledge Fund investments in sustainable aviation technologies. He also represented the company as a member of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Advisory Committee on Automation in Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration’s Drone Advisory Committee’s Roles & Responsibilities Task Force. Before joining Amazon in 2016, Murphy was co-chair of the aviation group and a partner in the corporate and regulatory groups at the international law firm of Crowell & Moring LLP where he represented international airlines, manufacturers, operators, investors, and trade groups in commercial, regulatory, litigation, government contract, competition, environmental, and airport matters. He also previously served as: president and member of the board of governors of the International Aviation Club of Washington, DC; special legal advisor to the board of directors of Vertical Aviation International (f/k/a Helicopter Association International); co-chair of the American Bar Association’s Section of International Law’s Transportation Committee; and member of the National Business Aviation Association’s Regulatory Industry Advisory Group and Security Council.
