Air Atlanta Icelandic is a major operator of the 747-400F with eleven quad-engine freighters on its Icelandic certificate and two on its Maltese certificate. The carrier removed four of its 747-400Fs from service last month and told Cargo Facts that two (30760 and 28263) were undergoing heavy maintenance while units 30761 and 27503 were awaiting reassignment.

The carrier began operations with its sister airline Air Atlanta Europe in October 2022, almost a year after receiving its certification from Transport Malta’s Civil Aviation Directorate.

Air Atlanta recently began passenger operations with 777-300ERs and has previously told Cargo Facts that it is looking at the 777 as its next widebody freighter type.

Hermannsson, who has served as CEO at the carrier since 2019, has been instrumental in its fleet development. He began his career with Air Atlanta Icelandic as vice president of sales and marketing in 2001 before serving as the senior vice president of sales and marketing in 2008, and has managed an array of projects in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Cargo Facts Symposium is the essential event for stakeholders in the freighter and air cargo industry.
