Alvarez contributed to the development of Panama-based Copa’s cargo network from Panama to the United States when he joined the airline in 1997. In addition to strengthening Copa’s presence in the secondary markets throughout the Americas, he also manages Copa Cargo’s door-to-door courier service and helped develop the carrier’s cargo terminal at Panama City’s Tocumen International Airport (PTY).
Copa Airlines sourced feedstock from its own passenger fleet to become the first operator of the 737-800BCF in Latin America after committing to two conversion slots with Boeing. The airline began commercial operations with unit 33709 in early 2022.
Copa is currently evaluating options that extend beyond its own passenger feedstock to grow its 737-800BCF fleet.
