Matalon was promoted to vice president and general manager of marketing for IAI’s Aviation Group in January 2019. He joined IAI in 1981 and served in various roles with the company prior to his promotion to chief executive of IAI subsidiary Aero Handling Ground Handling Services Co.

IAI will begin converting its first A330-330BDSF by the end of the year and hopes to receive certification in 2025. The company completed the engineering phase and told Cargo Facts that it planned to begin structural modification of the 2014-vintage prototype (1574, ex-Air Europa) this summer.

IAI reached a milestone with its Boeing medium-widebody conversion program in the first quarter of this year when it redelivered its 200th converted 767 freighter. It expects to obtain approval for its 777-300ERSF conversion program by yearend after receiving type inspection authorization for the large twin-engine freighter in December 2023.
