Tarpley became CEO of Mammoth Freighters in June 2020. With more than thirty-five years of freighter conversion experience, he previously served as Boeing’s program manager for development and certification of the MD-10 and 767 freighter conversions.

Mammoth is preparing its 777-200LRMF prototype for certification test flights in September with FAA TIA flight to follow shortly after. It completed the first post-conversion flight with the aircraft in May.

In addition to the 2009-vintage prototype (29742, ex-Delta Air Lines), Mammoth has installed cargo doors on four other 777s to date and selected Collins Aerospace as the provider of the cargo loading system. The first two aircraft are destined for Qatar Airways.

Mammoth is awaiting certification of its 777-200LRMF STC, with the expectation that it comes before yearend. It will then seek FAA approval to add the 777-300ERMF as an amendment to the 777-200LRMF STC in Q1 2026.

Mammoth installed the large cargo door on its 777-300ERMF prototype in February at the Aspire MRO facility in Fort Worth, Texas (AFW).

In addition to the five conversion lines at AFW, Mammoth launched two additional conversion lines in 2024 at the STS Aviation Services facility in Manchester, England (MAN).
